Skype for Web is the easiest way to enjoy Skype’s features without downloading the app. You can sign into Skype for Web on Skype.com and get chatting straight away on instant messaging. If you want to make voice or video calls, you’ll need to download a plugin.
To use Skype for Web, all you need to get started is a supported web browser and an internet connection (on Windows: Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer 10 and above and latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. On Mac OS: Safari 6 and above).
What features can I use on Skype for Web?
- You can use Skype for Web instant messaging, voice and video calls either 1:1 or in a group - for free. You can have up to 300 people in an instant message chat, 25 people on a voice call or up to 10 people on a group video call.
- Skype for Web also allows you to change languages independently from the language your Operating System uses. You now have access to 74 languages which you can find in the menu bar by clicking Tools, then Change Language. Skype will use the language file you've loaded whenever you sign in to Skype and you'll see the modified language in the Change Language list.
- Are you looking for more languages? Visit the Skype Community for help on getting a community-sourced language file.
- Throughout the coming weeks and months, we’ll be adding all the other features you can enjoy when using Skype on other devices. Stay tuned.
