Headquartered in New York City, HarperCollins Publishers is one the largest publishers in the world. With publishing groups in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and India, HarperCollins has published some of the world's iconic authors, including winners of the Pulitzer Prize, Nobel Prize, and Newbery Medal. HarperCollins UK is one of the larger branches with 850 employees in four locations.

HaperCollins Publishers sought Microsoft cloud solutions in order to reduce IT costs, save money, and improve productivity. As part of its Microsoft Azure solution, HarperCollins UK decided to utilize Azure ExpressRoute. ExpressRoute was able to deliver optimal performance through its dedicated circuit in a controlled and managed way. It was important to HarperCollins to not only choose a fast and reliable cloud service, but a solution that could deliver exceptional security. ExpressRoute provided a private, high-speed connection between employee computers in London and the Azure datacenter in Dublin. Without ExpressRoute, HarperCollins UK couldn't have made Azure hosting practical for its employees in London. Fast connectivity, consistent application performance, and lower IT costs were direct benefits of Microsoft Azure and Azure ExpressRoute. This solution allowed HarperCollins to stay productive and focus on its primary business, publishing, instead of managing datacenters.
